Peter Dickson is of English extraction, but his musical sensibilities are steeped firmly in the traditions of Indian sound. These days Peter is happily fusing styles from all over the world.
The idea for a contemporary accoustic guitar duo evolved from Peters European musical experiences. While in London, Peter was fortunate enough to play with some dedicated and proficient Spanish guitar specialists. About 6 months later, he arrived in Australia with a burning desire to establish a working, performing guitar duo.
Peter has tried many guitars and playing configurations, substituting nylon strings for steel and various other experimental modifications.
Recently, Peter's favourite guitar was smashed by a runaway spare wheel in back of a van, so he went out and bought himself an Ibanez acoustic. Peter explains, "It's got a top-class pick-up system that is made by an Australian company. It's very sturdy and great for all the percussive timber sounds that I like to use. I don't just use the strings, I use the body, the sides, the top, the neck, every inch of the instrument to create different sounds. I create snare sounds from tapping the strings, from pulling the stalk back and all of that stuff."
